We
interviewed artist Erick Vilquin and asked him a little about what goes into
the process of making art.
-Where does your inspiration come from?
Erick said
he gets his inspiration to work from being in harmony with nature, he works
with the structure of time, watching his artwork get old and improve with age.
-What’s your art making process?
Erick tells
us that in order to make good art he needs to isolate himself and forget what
he knows, going deeply into the abstract.
-Why do you think your art matters?
Erick
answered that he makes art for people to understand things that are happening
right now, and he wants to inspire people through his work.
-What kind of material do you use?
He said he
collects things from the streets to use in his art and he works mainly with the
colors red, blue, white and black.

CAMPO DE SANTANA - IMPRESSIONS
When we went to Campo de Santana to visit an exhibition of urban intervention. There we met an artist called Erick Vilquin. During our walk through the park, the French artist showed us his work, talked about the concept behind it, and explained what they mean. Erick’s concept is that he wants to represent the exactly moment and location that he finishes his art. We loved his interactive concept.

The cubes
The artist attempted to measure the beauty of
the nature. She positioned herself in a critical view in relation to the artist
Hans. Her intention was to express what she thought about the nature and pass
it by.
You have to think outside the
box because this can be anything. For a little boy this can be a TV in a tree.
It is hard to know what it represents because the artist thinks about the
project and changes it while it is evolving. She doesn’t work with a personal computer she
thinks about what is happening in
her life, she observes the world and sees
what it has to offer and as time goes by she expresses herself through art.
The car
The artist criticizes the capitalist society
with different interpretations. She took one month to build up one of the cars.
Like the woman of the cubes, she develops her product with changes. It is all
artificial and that is why the location of the exposition must be chosen carefully. She
cares about expressing what she is thinking and feeling about the capitalist
society that is why she makes all her work .

Visit to Chave Mestra Exhibition
The artist
had the idea of showing the mess of a house; for example, in her bathroom when
taking care of her children and giving him a shower.
The white
color was chosen to give the idea of cleanness, and the paint tubes were used
to give the sensation that a mess is going to happen in a near future.
